He gets up slowly, goes over to the mosquito and with super soldier reflexes smashes it between his hands. He rubs his palm on his jeans before he returns to to the seat he was in a few seconds before.
"Mosquito is dead. Now can I help you with this?" He's not sure why there's been such a cold shoulder between them since getting off the raft. She's doing this alone and she doesn't have to.

"Thank you." That had been so incredibly irritating. Her brows furrow slightly at his persistence. It's easy to assume someone who looks like Steve is denser than a heap of bricks, but he's not. He should have picked up on her lack of interest.
"You already did help. Now I don't have to sit here in fear of blood loss and with all that buzzing."

Steve knows exactly what he's doing.
"You don't have to do this alone," he says and nods his head towards the papers she's got. "Another pair of eyes will make this go faster."
And he can help. He's not the code breaker she is but he's good at spotting patterns. He can be helpful if she'd let him.

She feels the spark of her temper ignite and stares at it from a distance, wondering what to do with it. Anger has long fueled purpose, but what is her purpose now? She's given everything up.
Quietly, looking at Steve, "And then what?"
So it goes faster. Then she's done with the last tangible thing she has to do. Then what?

What else is Steve going to do? He's trusting Tony and those who stayed with him to handled Avengers level threats. Small things, the sort of stuff he did for SHIELD before they were revealed as Hydra still need to be done.
"Unless you want to do something else?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. "If you don't want to stay together now that we got Clint out."
But Steve thought their earlier conversation before planning and doing all this was to stick together and help where they could.

Her nostrils flare. Quietly, “I’m no longer in the business of using people and abandoning them.”
Whatever else is true about her, that is true. She never would have looked back, if Yelena hadn’t sent her that package. She’s still not a fan of looking back. But she knows what’s important to her now, she knows who is important to her, and if her time with Alexei, Melina, and Yelena had taught her anything, if seeing Antonia alive had taught her anything…
…cutting ties was not as effective as she’d thought. And sometimes, those ties could even be mended.
There might be a hint of accusation in that statement too. How many people’s loyalties had Steve used and then thrown away in his relentless pursuit of Barnes’ freedom? Is he attempting to make this about her? Look in the mirror.
She folds her hands on top of her papers and looks at him with clear restraint. “Do you have something you want to say to me, Steve?”

He doesn't flinch at her tone. Steve knows the choices he made and the consequences of them. He's going to live with them the rest of his life, like every other choice he's ever made. And they were his choices.
"I sent Tony a burner phone." Steve reaches into his pocket and puts another burner phone on the table. "With only the number to this phone in it. He can reach me any time he wants or needs to."
And for someone like Tony who's so good with tech there's probably a way for Tony to track him down now. Steve knows the risk he took but he doesn't abandon people. His loyalty is a strength and sometimes a problem.
"You're putting those files, all the work on yourself when you don't have to and I figure that's because you're feeling like you can't trust anyone but yourself to do it right." Steve raises an eyebrow. "Which is a feeling I'm familiar with. I'm here trying to remind you it's not all up to you to fix this."
